Corn and Callous Treatment

What are Corns and Callous?

Corns and calluses are areas of thickened skin that develop due to repeated pressure or friction on the feet. While they are a natural protective response, they can become uncomfortable and painful if left untreated.

What are the common causes?

Corns and calluses most commonly develop due to poorly fitting footwear, foot deformities such as bunions or hammer toes, changes in foot shape, and increased pressure from walking or standing. They are particularly common in older adults and those who spend long periods on their feet.

What are the symptoms?

Many patients describe the sensation as feeling like they are walking on a pebble. Symptoms may include hard skin, tenderness, pain when walking, and discomfort when pressure is applied to the affected area.

How can we help?

Treatment involves the careful removal of corns and hard skin using specialist podiatry instruments to provide immediate relief. We also assess the underlying cause and offer advice on footwear, pressure reduction and ongoing foot care to help prevent recurrence.

When should you seek treatment?

If a corn or callus is causing pain, affecting your mobility, or repeatedly returning, professional podiatry treatment can help keep your feet comfortable and healthy.
