Verrucae Treatment

What are Verrucae?

Verrucae are common viral infections that affect the skin on the feet. Although some verrucae resolve naturally, others can become painful, spread, or persist for long periods.

What are the common causes?

Verrucae are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is often contracted in warm, damp environments such as swimming pools, communal changing rooms and gym showers. The virus enters through tiny breaks in the skin.

What are the symptoms?

Verrucae typically appear as rough patches of skin on the sole of the foot and may contain small black dots. Some cause no discomfort, while others can become painful when standing or walking.

How can we help?

We assess each verruca individually and discuss the most appropriate treatment options based on its size, location and duration. We can also reduce discomfort, provide advice on preventing spread, and monitor progress throughout treatment.

When should you seek treatment?

If your verruca is painful, spreading, or preventing you from enjoying normal daily activities, professional assessment is recommended.
